 I'm Lucy Otieno from Kisumu, Kenya. Having been born into a family where ladies were married off after becoming pregnant, I also became a teen mom at the age of 19 and was sent away from home. I decided to break the barriers and finish my education. I was supported by a stranger until I completed my college studies.

The journey was painful, lonely, and full of rejection, but I refused to allow my past to define my future. Through tears, resilience, and determination, I chose education as my weapon and hope as my shield. What I went through opened my eyes to the silent struggles many young girls face in our communities every day.

Due to the challenges I faced and learned from, I decided to start my own youth group to support teen moms because I was sent away at the moment I needed support the most. I knew that no girl should ever feel abandoned at the most vulnerable moment of her life. I chose to become the support I never had.

But today I walk with my head held high, telling them that giving birth is not the end of life or education. That motherhood does not cancel dreams. Those mistakes do not define destiny.

I support them through mental support, sanitary pads donation, clothes donation, school support, words of encouragement, and by showing them ways to generate income through smart agriculture without depending on men. I believe in empowering young mothers with knowledge, confidence, skills, and self-worth so that they can stand strong, independent, and proud.

Today, my story is no longer a story of shame, but a story of strength, courage, and transformation. I stand as proof that pain can produce purpose, and rejection can give birth to leadership.
